If your business is not doing as well as you would like it to be then odds are you are lacking a defined goal. Once you have established your goal you need two key elements to achieve your goal, a date and a strategic plan. It would be nice if we could wish things into happening but the truth is that we must establish a time frame and take action if we want to reach our goals.
Set Your Completion Date First
You may think it is odd that I listed set a date first. I did that because it is important to set your goals by setting the date of completion first. Setting the completion date first makes it easier to work backwards from that date and determine what steps you must take to reach the goal.
Set your goal and the completion date then work (more…)

Are you a cause or effect person when it comes to growing your coaching business and doing what it takes to make that happen? You can tell which side of the fence you fall on by listening to what you say. If you hear yourself say things like “I can’t figure out what my niche is” or “I was going to do blank but I ran out of time.” Then you are probably an effect person.
An effect person believes that their lives and business are controlled by things outside themselves. Effect give away their power to make positive change by believing that they can not effect an given situation.
The truth is the only thing anyone really can change is how they respond to what happens around them. You always have choices and opportunities even when things look grim.
Pay Attention to Your Thoughts
You manifest your thoughts good or bad. You create more of anything you give your focus and attention to. You are what you think. You have probably heard one of these statements before. Have you ever given thought to what it really means and how it works in your life?
Thought and attention sound pretty straight forward but they can be very tricky because they happen in our minds and our ego is involved. We are using our thinking and our attention all the time yet we are seldom aware of what we are actually saying to ourselves. Most people do not have much controlĀ (more…)

Treat your social media interactions like you would at a live party. Being on a social media site is sort of like being at a party only it is virtual. You would not walk up to a stranger at a party and introduce yourself by rolling into a sales pitch so don’t do that on social media.
Introduce yourself then find out about the other person and what you can do for them. Find out who they are and what they are interested in. When you approach someone at a party you begin by talking about what they are doing in their lives and you are looking for things or interests you may have in common. The same is true with social media.
Compelling Profiles
Take time to set up your profile on each social network that you join. Most people rush through this important area and fail to make an effective impact. Your profile is where people go to begin to get to know you.
It is important to include pertinent information about you in your profile but it is also wise to include how you help others. Remember, all people are interested in what you have to offer them so let them know what you have to offer in your profile.
Be sure to review your profile every few months on each site that you are a member of. Your information will change over time and your profile should reflect what you are doing currently. Visit all of your sites and review your profile to ensure that your profile says what you want it to say.
Bad Behavior
Social media marketing is not just about what you say your interactions with others say a lot about who you are, what you do and how you do it. Social media marketing is about building relationships so people will experience you over time. They will notice how you behave long before they buy or refer.
Always be a giver when you are marketing online. You need to be genuinely interested in how you can help and serve others. Online networking is only the first stage to building a relationship.
Never do anything online that could harm your reputation or embarrass you. Word of keyboard travels like lightening on the internet so watch what you say and do online. Always be honest and honorable in your online business. No amount of money is worth ruining your reputation. People will share their impressions and this could have a positive or negative impact on your coaching business.
You cannot put a price tag on the value of integrity and being kind to others. Be sure that you are using social media to serve others, build relationships and grow your coaching business.

Social media is a wonderful free tool that you can use to drive traffic to your site and your offers. But you must treat it and the people using it with respect and kindness.
Don't make the common mistakes that others make when starting out in social media. The idea is to be of service to others and find common interests so that you can build relationships where people know, like and trust you. Because people will not coach with you until they know, like and trust you so build the relationship first.
Lets review some common social media mistakes that many coaches make so you can avoid them.
Going for Large Numbers and Being Impersonal
When you are networking on line, you need to network with people you can team up with to attract similar clients. It is very easy and profitable to develop online joint venture partners who are targeting the same niche you are. It is good to have a large number of followers and friends but it is best to have a targeted group, that are interested in what you have to offer.
Autoresponders and autofollow systems are not the best way to go because

Who has time to spend in social media? Coaches ask me if they should "waste" time with social media and my answer is an emphatic yes! Social media marketing is very effective if you do it right and with purpose. Some coaches get into trouble with social media marketing because they get too caught up in the social part and forget about the marketing part. I set aside a certain amount of time each day for social media marketing and try not to exceed that time limit.

That facts are that there are only so many hours a week that a coach can work with clients our earning power is limited by time unless we develop multiple streams of income. Many coaches ask me how they can create products because they don't understand what a product is.
Coaching products are information products that help people in your target coaching niche. Information products can be ebooks, eworkbooks, teleclasses, telecourses, audio recordings, and webinars or any combination of these.
If there is anyone in your target coaching niche who would like to learn and get more information to help them learn, grow and change then you have a market for your own information products. Many of these products begin as simple articles.

The hardest part about writing a great life coaching article each week is generating new article ideas so I have discovered several idea generating strategies. Sometimes an idea just enters my brain and screams to be written but that is the least common method of idea generation for me.
Get Coaching Clients with a Great Topic
Many times I come across a common problem that my coaching clients have and I address that issue. I know it is a common problem because I hear about it in many ways. Often I get questions on the same issue several times over a week or two. I see that people are talking about the problem when I am in a relevant forum or group.
I like to read articles and blog posts from other people in my target coaching niche to see what they are talking about and get ideas from that. I never duplicate another coaches' work but I do get ideas from reading their information. Sometimes those ideas are not related to the main topic but are sparked by a portion of the article or blog post.
