Coaching Businesses Don’t Market Themselves
February 22, 2010
Social media marketing is the buzz word on everyone’s lips these days and there is plenty of conflicting advice on how best to market with social media. Many coaches are so confused that they find themselves avoiding the process all together. Don’t let that be you because using social media marketing can quickly help you grow your coaching business and your contact list.
News organizations and businesses of all shapes and sizes are recognizing that social media is the wave of the future in marketing and is a marketing avenue that simply cannot be ignored. Progressive companies and politicians use social media to increase their market share and reinforce their brand.
What are the Reasons to be Involved in Social Media?
Marketing is now a two way street built on relationships. The days of large companies setting trends and telling the consumer what they will want and like are long gone. The internet has created a platform for consumers to give public feedback to businesses and the Internet allows that feedback to travel worldwide in seconds.
Some of the reasons businesses are getting involved in social media marketing are to improve communication with customers, improve relationships with customers, gain visibility, get customer leads, network, establish position, brand recognition, build community, and establish themselves as authorities and leaders in the market place.
Where to Be Social?
The challenge is to know where to put your social media efforts. Social media sites are popping up all over and more joining the ranks every day. It is hard to know where to market your business and to stay consistent.
They key is to pick the social media sites where you find the most people in your target coaching niche and be consistent in that venue. Relationship building takes time and consistency. Don’t become active in one site then chase after the next newest site as soon as it pops up. You have to take the time to develop relationships and establish yourself in any social media site.
