Get Coaching Clients with Enticement not Instruction

In a conversation with one of my coach clients I realized that all the internet marketing skills and offline marketing skills in the world will not get coaching clients unless you know how to have a conversation with people and build their interest in coaching with you. Are your using all the opportunities you have to promote your coaching business and to entice potential coaching clients to work with you?

Are you in front of your customer?
Signing up coaching clients requires that you have the opportunity to have a conversation with them. Your marketing efforts should lead potential coaching clients to call you or set a date and time on an automated calendar to have an introductory coaching session. Are you directing your marketing to a tightly honed target coaching niche?
It is imperative that you narrow your target coaching niche so that they can quickly see that they want what you are offering. If your niche is too broad then your message cannot be specific enough to motivate them to take an action. The action you want the potential customer to take is to set an appointment for an introductory coaching session. Entice but don’t instruct.
In coaching school they teach coaches to begin the conversation telling the prospect all about coaching. You are taught to explain what coaching is and what it is not and then to cover the process, your particular coaching agreement and structure. This is the wrong thing to do! First you must create a desire for coaching by allowing the potential client to recognize the need and value of coaching with you.

Don’t tell about you and your coaching.
Don’t talk about you and your coaching instead ask the person you are talking to about them. Start with easy comfortable questions like “tell me about you” or “what is the most important thing going on in your life right now”? This will open the other person up and get them talking and telling you what their needs, challenges, goals and desires are.
