Build Your Coaching Client List with a Blog
January 26, 2010
You don’t want to be a spammer but you do want to build a list of people who want to receive your emails. Spam is the abuse of electronic messaging systems (including most broadcast media, digital delivery systems) to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately (Wikipedia). First of all people don’t like or buy from people who spam and second, you can get in big trouble for spamming. There are many ways to build your list that are perfectly legal and that people actually appreciate or enjoy. An opt-in list is a list of people who have agreed to receive email from you. The most common way to get people to agree to get email from you is to offer them an “ethical bribe” in exchange for them filling their name and/or email address in a form. This box is often located on your blog or a special page called an opt-in page, landing page or squeeze page. Blogging Your home on the internet is your blog. Blogging is one of the best ways to get known and attract people to opt-in to your list. Blogging is often overlooked by many people because they don’t understand the value that it brings to others and to your marketing efforts. Blogging is important for several reasons. Blogging on a regular basis gives your target niche the information they desire. People who are interested in your topic or niche want to learn more and get “fed” on a regular basis. Blogs are search engine magnates. Search engines like Google love fresh new content and they are always looking for it. When you add new blog posts on a regular basis you are drawing the search engines to your site and your content. Soon you will find that you are getting ranked higher and higher by the search engines when people search for the terms that relate to your target niche. You need to blog on a regular basis at least three times per week. The more you blog the greater the chance the search engines will see your information and rank your blog higher on search pages that are relevant to your target niche. Now, a blog that is highly ranked is a very good thing but a blog that is highly ranked and has an opt-in box is an even better thing. Make sure that you have an opt-in box on your blog. Place your opt-in box in the top right hand corner of your blog. You also want to have a place where people can subscribe to an RSS feed that allows them to subscribe and receive updates every time you post to your blog. Make sure you offer something of high value to people who opt-in to your client list. Don’t cheap out in this area make sure that you offer something of very high value something that is irresistible. Build you list by blogging regularly and you will be surprised how many coaching clients you will attract in a short period of time. You will also become known as an expert in your target coaching niche.
