Generate Immediate Income with Local Marketing for Your Coaching Business
June 22, 2009
Every coach starts off differently but I have found that there are certain steps that prove to be effective for most coaches who want to generate some income right away. It is a great idea to begin generating income in your local market so you have ample funds to begin the process of marketing in a bigger scale and so you have some financial security and peace of mind.
Choose Your Target Coaching Niche
This single step is the most important element to the success of your coaching business. Your target coaching niche is the basis from which many key business decisions are made. Take your time and research your potential target coaching niches to choose the one best suited to you that is a viable market segment.
Your target coaching niche must be a potentially profitable market that suits your experience, passion, education, aptitudes, and interests. It is best to use some formal process to determine your target coaching niche. You can use your own process or you can use a process offered by people who have already succeeded in coaching.
Research the Problems, Needs, Challenges and Desires of Your Target Coaching Niche
Your job as a coach and a marketer is to find the most common challenges facing your target coaching niche and provide ways to solve those problems. Knowing the challenges your niche faces and helping them resolve those challenges is your product as a coach.
You are not selling your fine coaching skills, your great education, your coaching process, or your experience. You are selling solutions to problems. Every business person is solving problems and meeting needs.

Market in Your Local Area and Increase Your Expert Status
Begin your coaching business close to home. Research groups in your city to find out where they have meetings and if they commonly invite speakers to speak to the group. Join a group or two because this is a great way to research the challenges they face.
Groups are always looking for fresh speakers so offer to conduct a free workshop for the group. Workshops and speaking are great ways to generate clients and income quickly. Speaking for several groups around your city will quickly increase your public profile and improve your position as an expert.
You can offer an introductory coaching session at the end of your workshop or presentation. You will be pleasantly surprised at how many people will set an appointment when you ask them to. Provided you have a system for conducting introductory coaching session you will also sign up many clients from each speaking opportunity.
