Coaching Tools that Every Coach Needs

May 11, 2009

You are the core of your coaching business so how you present yourself is how others will see your coaching business. Be conscious of how you are perceived by clients and potential clients and how that will reflect on their decisions to use your services. There is no need to be manipulative or calculating in how you present yourself and your business but you should be aware of the image you project and you should make sure you are projecting the image you desire.

Self Confidence
Self confidence can be a difficult area for new coaches. The best way to gain confidence in your coaching is to coach a lot. I suggest that new coaches try to coach 100 sessions in three months even if that means coaching for a super low fee like $10.00. This will build your experience and confidence while getting the 100 coaching hours required by the ICF for certification. "Coaching Business Blast Off" helps new coaches have confidence starting a prosperous coaching business.

Experience
New coaches don't have a ton of coaching experience to talk about but all coaches have life experience. Most coaches have a valuable life experience that often is the thing that brought them to coaching in the first place. Tell people about your experience and how that relates to your coaching business.

Knowledge
Share the knowledge you have gains through coaching school, coaching others and living a full life. People are attracted to a person who has a great story filled with helpful knowledge. Tell your story and use your experience and knowledge to help someone else. Learn other client attraction skills with "No Sales Required Client Attraction" home study course.

Honesty
People can spot a fake in seconds so be honest always. Honesty is a very attractive quality but more importantly dishonesty is as repulsive as any quality can be. Be honest about yourself, your coaching, and your experience. People love people who are genuine and real.

Professionalism
Everything you do in life creates an image of you. Everything you say will say something about you. You should always present yourself with professionalism. This includes you tone, voice, actions. Your appearance is portraying you so it is very important to present a very good appearance all the time.

Positivity
Positive people are attractive so you should guard your attitude and make sure you remain positive in your approach to all circumstances. Be enthusiastic about your work and show enthusiasm for the interests of others. If you are not positive about your business then how can you expect potential clients to want to work with you for growth?

Be teachable
Coaches are eternal students always learning from others. Sure we may help them too but I always find that I learn from my clients and I want them to have a learner's mindset too. There is always more to know, enjoy and understand so accept the role of a beginner eagerly.
Manifest these qualities and you will be on the road to coaching success. Be sure to teach and encourage these same qualities in your clients to help them learn, grow and change.
