Great Opt-Ins Get Coaching Clients

April 19, 2009

Coaches ask me how to get more coaching clients using the
internet. That seem like a straight forward question but it is not so easy to
answer. There is a process involved in getting clients on the internet and
there are many steps that you must take to get the tools, technology and
knowledge that you need to succeed. I believe that the internet is the richest
source of potential coaching clients and I believe that all coaches should be
using the internet to market their coaching businesses.

Increase
the number of people on your contact list and you will increase revenue from
coaching.

They key to internet marketing is to have a growing
client list that wants to hear from you and has given you permission to market
to them. You must get people to opt-in to your client list. Opting in is when a
people to opt-in you must offer

an
ethical bribe. The better your bribe the more people will choose to opt-in to
your list.

What
is an ethical bribe?

An ethical bribe is what you offer in exchange for a
person giving you their contact information and permission to market to them.
Marketers use special reports, courses, ebooks, teleseminars, and videos as
ethical bribes.

Your bribe must be something that is tantalizing enough
that the potential client will eagerly give you their contact information in
exchange for what you have to offer. That means that your offer must be of high
interest to the potential client and it must target the client’s needs,
desires, or solve a problem for the potential client. If you have a well
defined target coaching niche then creating a report, ebook, or teleclass that
does this should be no problem. If you do not have a defined target coaching niche then you need to get "Coaching Business Blast Off".

Where
do you collect the contact information?

There are many ways that you can collect your contact
information including spreadsheets, Awebber, Constant Contact, shopping carts
and many other systems. I highly recommend 1Shopping cart because of the many
functions it provides along with a database.  You can use separate systems or any other
option but odds are you are going to want an integrated system when your list
gets larger and you may have difficulty transferring your data.  1Shopping cart
provides, database, autoresponders, shopping cart function, broadcast email
capability, affiliate program capability, newsletters and much more.

If you plan on generating revenue through various
revenue streams such as products, joint ventures, and affiliate programs then
you will soon want all of these for your growing business. I suggest that you
consider this as a wise investment in the growth of your business. Most
shopping cart providers offer their services and components in packages that
increase in price as they increase in available services.

Where
do I put the Opt-In?

The opt-in is where you are going to direct all
potential coaching clients that find you on the internet through your articles,
joint ventures and use of social media for marketing. If you have a blog (I suggest a Typepad blog) you
will want to place an opt-in box on your blog and you may also wish to have a
webpage dedicated as an opt-in page.

I suggest that most coaches start with a blog and an
autoresponder package available with most shopping cart providers. You will be
able to add many other ecommerce functions as you need them and the functions
will integrate smoothly.

Where
do I position my opt-in box on my blog?

Your opt-in box should be visible above the fold on you
blog. The term above the fold means that it should be visible without having to
scroll down to find it. I always suggest the upper right hand corner of the
blog for positioning your opt-in box. Collecting contact information is one of
the main functions of your blog. So you want to position your opt-in box in a
very visible place. You must also be sure to place an irresistible invitation
above your opt-in box to entice your readers to enter their contact
information.
