Marketing a Coaching Business: Why I Love Marketing
November 5, 2008
Coaching is Selling and I don't Like Selling!
I know many coaches think as highly of marketing as they do used car salespeople, my apologies to anyone who may be a car salesperson. I really don't know why that is but I started my career in advertising and marketing so I will confess that I am a little biased. Let me ask a question…
Teach Others with Your Marketing
Do you think coaching is valuable and do you think people should improve their lives through coaching? If you think that coaching is a powerful force for change and you believe in your ability to help others improve their lives then you should be excited to tell them about it so they can try it. Use your marketing as a means of teaching and coaching. Create marketing materials that help, teach and serve others. That doesn't mean that these marketing materials cannot also serve
to help get you more coaching clients and help more coaching clients benefit from coaching! All of my marketing materials are created with the purpose of serving others. This blog is one example of helping coaches who are a few steps behind me in building prosperous coaching businesses. I give a seminar/workshop on life balance that always results in people thanking me for the learning and insight they received from my workshop. I also always walk away with the opportunity to have a free session with many of the people who attended. I make sure that I offer the free session at the end of the workshop so that I have to opportunity to show people how coaching can improve their life individually.
People are Drawn to Seek Help From People that Understand Them
Great marketing materials help you develop a relationship with potential coaching clients and helps them to understand how coaching can help them or someone they love. Well targeted marketing material tells the potential client that you understand them, their wants, their challenges, and their needs. Your market material can inspire others to move toward their goals and dreams when they might otherwise not do so.
You Owe it to People to Let Them know How You can Help Them
If you believe in your service and products then you should be eager to share your passion and knowledge with others. Think about it, you are a great coach and people are able to make huge positive shifts in their lives when they coach with you! So get out there and show them how you can help them through coaching. It is your obligation to help people to take the necessary action steps to improve their live through coaching.
There now go figure out how many ways you can inspire others while marketing your coaching business. I teach this and a lot more in my home study program"Coaching Business Blast Off".
What I learned
1) My marketing materials can teach and serve others.
2) People want to know that their are coaches that understand them and can help them.
3) All of my marketing should be developed with the intention of serving others.
4) I owe it to people to let the know how I can help them.
